Custom Motorcycle & Marine Wraps in Houston, TX

In Houston, toys are a way of life. Whether you’re splitting lanes (figuratively—we know it's illegal here) on a sportbike down Westheimer or hauling a center console down to Galveston for the weekend, we love our machines.

But the Gulf Coast environment hates them.

If you own a boat, you know the struggle: gel coat oxidation. The Texas sun turns that shiny fiberglass into a chalky, matte mess within a few seasons. And for motorcycles, the combination of road debris on the highways and the baking heat of a parking lot can destroy factory graphics fast. Wraps aren’t just about looking cool at the meet; they are about stopping the rot.

The Reality of Marine Wraps (Salt vs. Fresh)

Wrapping a boat is a different ballgame than wrapping a car. If you are launching at Lake Conroe or Lake Houston, you’re mostly worried about UV damage and dock rash. But if you are heading down to Clear Lake or out of the Galveston Yacht Basin, you are dealing with salt.

Saltwater is corrosive. A marine wrap needs to be sealed perfectly. If an installer leaves a loose edge or doesn't use an edge sealer, that saltwater will work its way under the vinyl and eat the adhesive.

Why Wrap Instead of Gel Coat? Restoring oxidized gel coat is miserable work. You buff it, wax it, and three months later, it’s chalky again. A vinyl wrap covers that fade instantly and costs about a third of what a professional gel coat restoration and paint job would run. Plus, you can get colors—like metallics or color-shifts—that gel coat simply can’t do.

Motorcycle Wraps: It’s All About the Curves

Don't let the size fool you. Wrapping a motorcycle is often harder than wrapping a truck. A tank has compound curves that fight the vinyl every step of the way. If your installer uses cheap calendared vinyl on a gas tank, it will pop up and wrinkle the first time you park it in the sun.

For sportbikes and cruisers, the wrap takes a beating. Your knees rub against the tank, road grit hits the fairings, and engine heat cooks the adhesive from the inside out. You need a shop that uses premium cast vinyl (like Avery or 3M 2080) and knows how to disassemble the bike to hide the seams.

Real Pricing: Boats by the Foot, Bikes by the Piece

Pricing for these categories can be tricky because "boat" can mean a jet ski or a 40-foot scarab.

  • Boat Wraps: Usually priced by the linear foot. In the Houston area, expect to pay $125 – $200 per linear foot for a full color change hull wrap. (e.g., A 20ft boat might cost around $3,000 - $4,000 depending on the gunwale height).

  • Motorcycles:

    • Tank Only: $300 – $500.

    • Full Sportbike (Fairings + Tank): $1,500 – $2,500. The labor time to take the fairings off and wrap them individually is massive.

    • Cruisers/Baggers: $2,000+. Wrapping hard bags and massive fenders takes time.

Durability and "Dock Rash"

A vinyl wrap is tough, but it’s not Kevlar. If you rub a concrete piling at the boat ramp, the vinyl will tear. However, patching vinyl is way easier than matching gel coat.

For boats, we strongly recommend adding a Ceramic Coating on top of the wrap. It makes the hull slick, so scum lines and algae wipe off with a towel instead of scrubbing. It also adds a layer of UV protection that is vital for boats that sit in dry storage or on a lift all year.

Find Specialist Installers on WrapMatchPro

Not every car wrap shop wants to touch a motorcycle (it’s tedious) or has the facility to back in a boat trailer. We built WrapMatchPro to filter for the specialists. You can find the shops that actually have marine experience and the guys who know how to wrap a gas tank without a seam down the middle. Check their portfolios, compare their marine-specific warranties, and get your toy ready for the water or the road.
